Hansen foot valves are designed to permit fluid flow in one direction only. They are designed so water doesn’t syphon back into your dam, tank or river if it is at a low point on the property. Hansen foot valves will hold the water in your suction line when the pump is turned off – this will keep the pump primed. The grate on the inlet also helps protect the pipeline from debris which could damage components upstream.
The valves function over a wide range of operational pressures.
