✓CHOOSE THIS WHEN
- High Carbon Steel Blade: Offers durability and sharpness for tough scraping tasks.
- Chisel Edge: Ideal for removing paint and putty with precision.
- Full-Tang Blade: Enhances strength and longevity of the scraper.
✕CHOOSE A DIFFERENT TOOL WHEN
- Broad work and applying.
- At 3/4″ it clears nothing wide efficiently — a field of failed paint or a wall of wallpaper is a wide-blade job, with the 02205 coming back only for the corners.
- It is stiff, so it does not fill or finish; pressed into a patch it leaves marks and can’t conform (fill with a flexible knife).
- It is not the force chisel — for hard, cured material that fights back you want the stout .075″ 1-5/16″ 02200, which won’t flex where this lighter blade will.
- It carries no Hammer Head and no offset — if the job also involves setting popped fasteners or keeping knuckles off the wall during heavy scraping, that’s the 02565 (the same 3/4″ chisel with a strike butt and a bent blade).

How the pros run it
01
Flat face to the work, bevel up
As with every chisel edge, the single flat face is what rides the surface and keeps the edge from gouging — keep it down. Low angle. The narrow chisel wants to slip under, not chop. Steer with the width. The 3/4″ edge is a pointing tool as much as a scraper — line the short edge up on the exact deposit and let the narrowness keep the shoulders off everything else. Pressure is easy to over-apply. Because the width is so short, hand force translates to high pressure at the edge — ease off on delicate surfaces or the concentrated edge marks them. Hone the bevel, keep the flat true. Maintain the single-bevel grind on the bevel side only. Carbon discipline: wipe dry after wet or solvent work; oil for storage.
