✕CHOOSE A DIFFERENT TOOL WHEN

  • The everyday latex wall job where a plastic tray is lighter, quieter, and rust-proof — for water-borne paint, plastic-plus-liner is the whole answer, and the metal tray’s weight and rust risk buy nothing.
  • Height work — it has no ladder mount; latex at height is the 92054’s job.
  • High-capacity work — it’s a 2 L tray, half the reservoir of the 4 L jumbo (92067); it trades capacity for chemistry, not the other way around.
  • Between-coats covered holds — no cover, and you wouldn’t cap solvent vapor anyway.
  • And it is not a plastic tray with a metal price — if nothing on the job is solvent-borne and nothing steps on the tray, the metal is over-buying.

How the pros run it

01

Match the tray to the chemistry, not the color

the 92060 is chosen for solvent coatings; that’s its selection axis. Line it for solvent cleanup and for any latex run — the 92061 carries solvent mess out and keeps rust off light paint. Ventilate for real, and treat the rags as a fire risk — the solvent-safety kit rides with this tray. Scrape, don’t gouge — cured paint comes out of metal with a stiff knife; that’s a feature you can’t use on plastic. Dry it before storage — the one maintenance ritual metal asks and plastic doesn’t.
