Yanmar Tractor Mechanical Temperature Gauge Includes “Yanmar” Adapter
We really like the look of this gauge when used in the older Yanmar tractors and LOVE knowing exactly how hot the engine is running instead of hoping that little amber light comes on when it is supposed to. Catch potential overheating problems BEFORE they get expensive. This gauge is relatively affordable and we have had very good luck with them on our own tractors
How To Use:Remove your factory temp switch (screwed in behind your water pump with one wire coming out of the top). Replace the switch with the included metric adapter and then screw the mechanical temperature gauge into the adapter. Use a hole saw to drill a 2″ hole in your dash wherever you intend to mount the gauge (check behind the dash to be sure you don’t drill into anything important)
Things to consider:This gauge is mechanical (not electronic) which makes it very durable and a perfect fit for your Yanmar which is, also, mostly mechanical. It uses a very thin tube to carry compressed gas from the sensor to the gauge (the more the sensor heats up the more the gas expands). DO NOT kink or puncture the tubing. Zip tie the tubing so that it does not rub on anything. If the magical gas gets out of the tubing then the gauge is ruined.
There are no wires to hook up unless you want the gauge to be back-lit when you turn on your headlights. In that case you will need to run a fused 12V wire from your lighting circuit to the bulb terminal on the back of the gauge. Other than that – no electrical connections of any kind are needed.
