Is this the right tool for your job?
✓CHOOSE THIS WHEN
- Multi-Functional: Serves as a putty remover, spreader, and paint roller cleaner.
- Durable Blade: 2-1/2″ wide carbon steel blade, hardened for longevity.
- Half-Round Cut-Out: Designed to clean paint from paint rollers.
✕CHOOSE A DIFFERENT TOOL WHEN
- Daily professional use — the .030″ blade flexes under real load and folds its edge sooner; a working painter wants the .055″ 02970 or a stainless 01870.
- Heavy or multi-coat scraping — the thin blade is the wrong tool; step up.
- Prying paint-can lids — not in its function set and not what a thin blade should do; use a dedicated opener.
- Nail setting — no HammerHead.
- Finish filling — stiff and thin, it tram-lines; feather with a flexible knife.

How the pros run it
01
Grip
the ergonomic plastic handle is shaped for a comfortable palm hold; keep the index finger down the spine for control on the point work. Angle: 15–30° for the blade, and lighter pressure than a pro blade invites — the .030″ steel rewards a shearing stroke and punishes a heavy prying one, because it flexes where a sixteenth-inch blade drives. Edge care: hardened carbon takes a file; dress the edge square when it folds, and expect that a thinner blade folds sooner, so the file comes out more often. Care: carbon steel — wipe it dry after roller-cleaning and wet work or it blooms rust; on a tool this inexpensive, many owners simply retire it when it rusts rather than maintain it, which is a legitimate way to own a Value-Series tool.
