✕CHOOSE A DIFFERENT TOOL WHEN
- Tape bedding — 4″–6″ joint-knife work; a 10″ can’t hold pressure on the tape center line.
- Heavy, crown-controlled fill — the limber back bellies under a thick load; for stiff-spined heavy fill and crown control at 10″, use the extruded 09333.
- The final finish feather at width — a 10″ begins a skim but a butt joint or final seam feather wants 12″–14″; step to the flat-back 09373 or 09374.
- Scraping — a finishing blade, not a ridge-lifter (the 02601’s job).

How the pros run it
01
A flat-back 10″ is steered by bow, and it bends readily, so it rewards a light, following hand
Gentle center pressure leaves a slight crown for sanding; a whisper of end-bias feathers an edge to zero — and because the blade is limber, small inputs produce the correction, which is why it finishes so cleanly. Deposit at 20–30°, finish flat near 10–15° with a light touch, and let the blade’s spring carry the feather rather than forcing it. A foot-wide-minus-two of blade still prints any wobble wide, so keep the stroke steady. The soft-grip handle suits long controlled passes; wipe on the pan rim every return so no crumb scores the coat. Cleanup is a rinse — stainless blade, rivet-free build.
