  • Enhanced Durability: Stainless steel blades offer long-lasting performance.

✕CHOOSE A DIFFERENT TOOL WHEN

  • Tape and bed coats — far too wide; that is 4″–6″ joint-knife work.
  • First fill on a fresh narrow seam — an 8″ (09323) starts the coat progression; a 12″ over a fresh seam wastes compound and drags surrounding texture.
  • The lightest feather-to-zero finish — the extruded stiffness fights a delicate final wipe; for that, the limber flat-back 09373 is the better 12″, or the SuperFlexx™ 06857 on small fields.
  • Scraping and demolition — a finishing blade, not a ridge-lifter (that is the 02601’s job).

How the pros run it

01

At twelve inches, technique is mostly control, and the extruded back changes its character

the blade resists bowing, so you shape by pressure and angle more than by letting the blade flex. That is an advantage when you want a held geometry — a crown that stays put, a flat that bridges a dip — and a liability when you want a whisper-light feather, which the limber flat-back does more naturally. Present the blade flat, around 10–15° for the finishing wipe, let the ends ride flat wall as depth references, and correct in small increments because every ridge is a foot long. The soft-grip handle carries the leaning passes; wipe on the pan rim every return so no crumb scores a finish coat. Stainless and rivet-free means end-of-day maintenance is a rinse — no drying, no oil, no crevice to trap mud.
