Drive straight down
The straight blade rewards a vertical line of force — get your shoulder over the pole and let your weight, not your arms, do the work on decks and floors. Direction: push; short heavy strokes on the stubborn bonded spots, longer strokes on the clearing flats. Two hands on the pole, and keep the pole from over-extending past the length you can control. Edge care: high-carbon steel, fixed and filed — the XHD blade still needs a mill file to keep the chisel edge square, and it will bloom rust if left wet, so wipe it dry. Match tool to angle: if you find yourself raking the pole back to reach up at a surface and the straight edge stops biting, that is the 12070’s job, not this one.
