How the pros run it

Extend, then clamp — never the reverse
The 25mm’s advantage is full extension, and full extension is only safe against the screw-lock. Set the depth, lock the collar hard, then cut. A long blade that creeps mid-pull is the failure mode this host exists to prevent.

Commit to the pass
A depth blade rewards one continuous, controlled stroke over repeated sawing tugs — each stop lets thick material re-grip the blade’s flanks. Let the length of edge cut; do not lever the blade to force it.

The point is not a pry
Even a stout 25mm blade snaps if twisted or side-loaded past its beam. When a cut hangs up, free it with the blade, not by torquing the tip.

Snap the segment, and mind that it is a big sharp
Seven long segments means each snapped piece is a substantial two-edged shard — larger than a 9mm tip and more than able to cut through a glove or a bag. This pack has no used-blade chamber, so spent segments go into a sharps container, never loose. Snap at the groove, away from the body.

Steel and care
Hyde documents these as snap-off blades in the family whose 9mm and 18mm pages state carbon steel; the 25mm page does not separately print the metallurgy , so treat them as carbon-class snap steel — keen, and prone to rust if left wet. Keep the pack dry; wipe the working segment after damp work.
