✕CHOOSE A DIFFERENT TOOL WHEN

  • It is not the pouch for a straight utility knife — that is the 42520, and forcing a straight knife into an angle-cut mouth (or an angle-head knife into a straight one) leaves the knife loose and unsafe.
  • It is not a sheath for the heritage ground blades (square points, skivers, mill knife) — those want the enclosing 56500 / 56505 sheaths.
  • It is not shaped for a hook knife (curved blade, retained by the 42700).
  • And it holsters the knife with the blade exposed, so it protects the carry, not the edge — it is not a covering or locking scabbard.

How the pros run it

01

Seat by the angle

The pouch is cut for the canted head; drop the knife in the orientation it’s shaped for so it sits deep and doesn’t rock out on a kneel. Manage the exposed edge. As with the straight pouch, the knife rides blade-exposed — retract a retractable knife before holstering, and treat a fixed edge as permanently live; position the pouch so a stumble carries the edge away from your leg. Condition the leather. Flooring and drywall work is hard on a pouch; wipe it down, let it dry, and dress it occasionally so the top grain doesn’t crack. Standard belt. The 2-1/2″ slots want a standard work belt to keep the pouch from swinging as you move up and down.
