Is this the right tool for your job?

✕CHOOSE A DIFFERENT TOOL WHEN

  • Not a standalone tool — it is a cover, and it does nothing without a Corner Ease hub to carry it (that complete tool is the 45820).
  • Not a two-color corner — it paints both faces at once and holds no line; a two-color corner is a shield’s, a guide’s, or a brush’s job.
  • Not a smooth interior finish corner — its lambswool stipple is too coarse there; that corner is the foam 94013’s .
  • Not a field-roller cover — its geometry is the Corner Ease’s, made for creases and rough edges, not open walls, and it does not fit a standard 9″ frame.
  • And not a line tool of any kind — the shields (45000/45005) and guides (45805/45810) own the paint line; this wool is the working face of a corner roller.

How the pros run it

Know when a cover is done

Packed or matted nap, torn shoulders, or stain-hardened wool that no longer picks up cleanly are the signals — a cover past those does not improve with more paint, it just lays a worse finish, and swapping it is faster than fighting it. Seat it clean. Mount fresh wool on a clean hub so it runs true and doesn’t wobble the crease pass; a hub fouled with dried stain from the last cover throws the new one off. Break it in gently. A brand-new lambswool cover sheds a little loose fiber on its first charge — work the first load out on the tray grid or a scrap board before the finish surface. The fire rule governs disposal. However the old cover comes off, if it held oil or oil stain, dry it flat or submerge it before disposal. No wash heroics on stain. Water-based work can rinse and re-serve a cover; oil-stain work generally ends a cover’s life, which is what the 45850 is for.
