Is this the right tool for your job?
✓CHOOSE THIS WHEN
- The documented job is “How to Clean Concrete, Brick, and Block Before Coating or Repair — The Complete Guide”.
- Flexible nylon stripping brush with plastic scraper built into nose. 5/8″ bristles for areas where scratching of soft materials is an issue. Also useful in areas where non-sparking cleaning must be done for safety and where chemicals can react to metals. For small jobs or where access is an issue. Brush area measures 1-1/8″x2-1/4″. Overmold handle.
✕CHOOSE A DIFFERENT TOOL WHEN
- Cutting rust, scale, or bare hard deposits. Nylon scrubs; it does not cut oxide. That’s the stainless 46800 on stainless/aluminum, or the carbon 46802 on mild steel.
- Any job where you actually want abrasion. If the goal is to remove metal — deburr, descale, take down a weld — nylon is the wrong fill entirely.
- Hot-solvent immersion for long periods. Aggressive hot chemistry attacks the filament; this is a scrub tool for stripper and cleaner at working temperature, not a boil-out brush.

How the pros run it
01
Let the chemical cut and the brush lift
Nylon does not shear — the stripper softens the coating, and the flexible fill works the softened film out of the detail. Keep the surface wet with stripper, re-wet rather than force, and let the tips do the lifting. Use the plastic nose deliberately. When the brush is riding over a lifted sheet or a crusted lump instead of clearing it, roll onto the scraper edge and shear it, then go back to brushing — that’s the sequence the combined tool is built for. Mind the heat. Nylon is a thermoplastic; hot, aggressive strippers can soften and wilt the filament, so work at temperature and don’t leave it standing in a hot bath. Use the shoe to keep knuckles clear in a recess. Rinse the fill so hardened residue doesn’t set in it. No eye-protection-from-broken-wire worry here — there’s no wire to shed — but wear splash protection for the chemistry.
