- High Carbon Steel Blade: Offers durability and sharpness for tough scraping tasks.
- Chisel Edge: Ideal for removing paint and putty with precision.
- Full-Tang Blade: Enhances strength and longevity of the scraper.
✕CHOOSE A DIFFERENT TOOL WHEN
- A stiff blade cannot bow to conform to a wall, so it drags compound out of shallow depressions and leaves ridges at the blade corners.
- Applying compound, feathering a patch, taping a joint — that is the flexible side of the family (the 02500 3-1/2″ flex joint knife is the nearest fill-side neighbor at comparable width).
- There is no Hammer Head on this handle — do not hammer the spine to set a pop; if strike-and-fill is your workflow, that is the 02568 (same blade, plus the striking butt).
- Prying leverage on floors.
- The blade runs in-line with the handle with no offset crank — for two-handed leverage, the bent scrapers are the tools.

How the pros run it
01
Grip
fist for power over a broad field; index finger down the spine when you’re shaving residue and want the bevel controlled. Angle: low — 15–30°; the edge shears, it does not chisel in. Bevel awareness: this is a single-bevel tool, so which way you turn it matters — bevel down to slip under a coating, flat-back down to shave flat. Edge care: dress the chisel edge square and keen on a mill file when it dents or rolls; a chisel lives or dies by its edge, more than a square blade does. Steel: carbon hones keener and holds it on dry work, but wipe it dry after any wet or solvent job — leave stripper sludge on it overnight and it blooms rust. That single maintenance fact is the entire reason the stainless 01440 exists.
