✓CHOOSE THIS WHEN
- Stainless Steel Blade: 10 inches long, offering durability and resistance to corrosion.
- Offset Handle: Made from polypropylene for a comfortable grip and improved control, especially when reaching awkward angles.
- Ergonomic Design: The offset nature of the handle reduces wrist strain and allows for easier, more accurate cuts.
✕CHOOSE A DIFFERENT TOOL WHEN
- Bedding and embedding paper tape. That is a joint knife’s job ([01840] 6″, [02850] 6″) — a blade-in-hand tool whose in-line tang lets your wrist load the tape’s centerline. The 09100’s raised, offset handle can’t put that pressure on a tape’s center.
- Wide seam feathering across flat wall. Ten inches and a stiff stainless plate feather a corner, not a butt joint’s 24-inch spread; step to a 12″–14″ taping knife ([09214], [09215]) for that.
- Paint scraping and putty work. Despite “knife” in the name, this is a finishing and wallcovering tool, not a stiff scraper — that’s the Black & Silver® putty-knife line, a different aisle entirely.

How the pros run it
01
Read the crank as clearance, not as a gimmick
The reason to reach for this knife over a flat 10″ is a specific obstruction: a corner, a return, a fixture, a wet edge you can’t touch. If nothing is in your hand’s way, a flat taping knife feathers a seam better; the offset is answering a geometry problem.
02
Keep the blade flat and let the offset hold the angle
The tool is designed so your natural grip lands the blade low and flat. Fighting it — cocking the wrist to steepen the blade — throws away the ergonomics and the flat face both.
03
Both edges do work on a corner
One edge rides the bead, one rides the wall. Even pressure across the ten inches keeps the bead nose from telegraphing through the coat.
04
Wipe on the pan rim every return
([09012]/[09072]-class), same as any finishing blade — a clean stainless edge is what makes the fine-finish pass fine. Because it’s stainless, wash-up is forgiving; you can leave it in the bucket without penalty, which a carbon knife will not forgive.
