  • Blade Material: Flexible carbon steel for optimal performance and flexibility.
  • Handle: Long handle with Acme thread for easy attachment to extension poles.
  • Construction: Brass rivets ensure durability and resistance to rust.

✕CHOOSE A DIFFERENT TOOL WHEN

  • Tight, broken, or pitched overhead work. Between recessed cans, around a fan box, up a stairwell’s changing pitch — the 8″‘s corners will catch where the 6″ [09153] keels flat. Drop a width for crowded geometry.
  • Cavernous flat lids. A big open garage or great-room ceiling is faster with the 10″ [09155]’s wider wipe path; the 8″ is more passes than you need there.
  • Hand-height seams. At a reachable joint a hand joint knife ([01840] 6″, [02850] 6″) is better balanced; the pole handle is only worth carrying when the work is out of reach.

How the pros run it

01

Eight inches is the widest you can still steer easily overhead

Past this width the blade wants to lift off flat against gravity and you start correcting; at 8″ the correction is small, which is why it’s the everyday choice. Keep the pole roll smooth and let the flex smooth the coat.

02

Feather with pressure bias, not blade angle

Lean pressure toward the edge you want to feather to zero; keep the blade flat. On a pole this is done by how you load the pole, not by cocking a wrist you don’t have up there.

03

Carbon means dry it

High-carbon blade — wash and wipe dry after water-based compound or it rusts. The brass pins won’t corrode; the steel will. File the edge square if it dents.

04

Standard Acme thread

Screws onto any conventional extension pole, the same interface as a roller frame — no proprietary adapter.
