✓CHOOSE THIS WHEN

- Sizes Available: 120, 150, 180, and 240 grit.
- Longer Lasting : Lasts 3x longer than standard aluminum oxide sand paper.
✕CHOOSE A DIFFERENT TOOL WHEN
- Knockdown of a rough, ridged joint — 150 cuts too slow there; that is 120’s job (09938’s coarser sibling 09944, or the 5″ 45383).
- Final surface under a sheen paint — 150’s scratch can flash under eggshell and satin; 180 (09939) is the pre-sheen grit.
- Sanding paint film between coats — far too coarse; 240 (09940) owns that.
- Curved and contoured surfaces the flat rectangle cannot follow — the 5″ foam sponge disc (45384).
- And field-scale power sanding of broad flat wall — faster on a 9″ net disc (09920) on the radial sander; the sheet is the hand-and-pole tool.

How the pros run it
01
Cross the scratch
change stroke direction between passes so 150 cuts the previous grit’s lines instead of deepening its own. Weight, not force: the tool’s mass is the pressure; a skim coat is thin and 150 will reach the paper if you push. Raking light is the instrument: 150 is the grit at which “flat” is decided, and flat is only visible in a low, raking light. The skip you may make and the one you may not: you may start at 150 and skip 120 on clean taping; you may not go from 120 to 240 without 150 (or 180) bridging — the fine grit polishes the coarse scratch’s tops and leaves its valleys for the primer to find. Wash before it stops cutting, not after.
