Is this the right tool for your job?

✓CHOOSE THIS WHEN

  • Full-Size Blade: 2-1/2″ blade with two scraping edges, suitable for large scraping tasks.
  • High-Carbon Steel Blade: Durable and can be resharpened, designed for heavy-duty use.
  • Lightweight, Well-Balanced Handle: Provides comfort and good leverage for prolonged use.

✕CHOOSE A DIFFERENT TOOL WHEN

  • Two-handed production pace on heavy build.
  • When a whole house of alligatored siding needs hogging down and finishing, the four-edge, knobbed 10540 does it faster and with less fatigue — a second hand over the edge and a rough/smooth blade this head doesn’t carry.
  • It is not a nail-setting tool: with no Hammer Head® inset, the popped fasteners you find here get set with a separate hammer, not with the scraper.
  • It is not an apply tool (no fill role), not a profile tool (contour scrapers own coves and moldings), and not the carbide answer for iron-hard coatings — the 10610/10620 hold their edge across jobs where this steel wants a file across passes.

How the pros run it

01

Pull toward you at a steep angle, downforce over the edge

This 2-1/2″ scraper is made for controlled pull strokes. Keep the edge flat to the surface so pressure spreads across the full width instead of digging in at a corner. Don’t press harder on a dull edge — flip it or file it, because extra force on a tired edge causes chatter and gouges. Keep the pull straight to avoid corner-loading. For any paint scraper work, assume pre-1978 coatings may contain lead: work wet, keep the debris contained, and for paid work follow EPA Lead RRP requirements, including use of an EPA Lead-Safe firm and required job paperwork.
