How the pros run it

The gloss discipline from the single cover carries unchanged
thin coats, light pressure, don’t overwork setting enamel, sand lightly between coats, pre-dampen for waterborne, load full and quiet. The four-pack rules are two. First, keep the freshest cover for the coat that shows — a matted nap stipples a finish coat, giving back the flat film you bought the microfiber for. Second, track which cover ran which color so a dark accent doesn’t bleed into a light trim white by accident. Wash the keepers to clear at day’s end, stand them on end to dry, and let the pack absorb the retirement of any cover that’s matted or ran solvent.
