✕CHOOSE A DIFFERENT TOOL WHEN
- Crisp cut lines. An oval tip is rounder and blunter than a flat, and much blunter than an angled sash. For a clean wall-to-ceiling or trim line, step to the 2-1/2″ Millenium angled sash (47372) or a flat.
- Glass-flat oil and varnish work. These SRT synthetics are at their best in waterborne coatings; for a mirror lay-off in oil enamel, spar varnish, or oil stain, natural white bristle (Hyde Extra 47380–47383) still lays off flatter.
- Lacquer, shellac, and strong-solvent finishes. Reach for a sacrificial chip brush (80151–80155); harsh solvents are hard on synthetic filament.
- Surface prep. Stripping, scuffing, and rust or paste removal belong to the wire and stripping brushes (46xxx), not an applicator.
