Two hands, knob loaded, steep angle, edge trailing, and a steady pull with your body weight over the cut
Keep the whole edge in contact on flat work so it doesn’t tip onto a corner and dig; on a surface that isn’t dead flat, the five-inch edge will ride on its corners and telegraph them — which is the signal that you are on the wrong surface for this blade. Work to the sound-paint boundary and stop; follow with sanding to feather.
