- Sheen and critical light. In satin, semi-gloss, or any finish read under raking light on a big sunlit wall, the open knit-class stipple and the day-long matting show up as unevenness the eye catches. That is the microfiber E-volution / Ultra Touch job, or the woven Woven-Ultra job — finish grades, one and two shelves up.
- Epoxy and hot solvents. A shed fiber in an epoxy floor becomes permanent floor texture, and cheap covers shed and delaminate in aggressive chemistry. Epoxy is the woven Woven-Ultra’s job, by Hyde’s explicit rating; it is never this cover’s.
- Texture past a light orange-peel.
- 3/8″ bridges the valleys of real knockdown, sand-finish plaster, brick, and block — it paints the peaks and skips the low spots, and the wall looks painted at noon and unpainted at six when the light rakes across it.
- That is the 1/2″ (99303) and 3/4″ (99304) job.

How the pros run it

De-lint first
(§2a) — the one non-negotiable habit for an economy cover. Light hand pressure — a correctly napped cover works at the weight of your hand; pressing harder to squeeze out more coverage is the amateur tell, and on a knit-class cover it mats the pile faster and squeezes fat edges at the roller’s ends. Reload on sound — full-and-quiet is loaded, a hiss is starved, drips are overloaded. Wash-or-toss, decided by price, not virtue: this cover is cheap enough that in solvent work or on a one-day job the rational move is to run it and discard it; in a waterborne job you may keep it, but only if you wash until the water runs clear — paint left at the base of the fibers dries into a stiff core that thumps the next wall. Dry it standing on end, never on its side (a side-dried cover develops a flat spot). Overnight break: wrap it airtight in plastic with the air squeezed out — paint dries by evaporation, so no air means no drying — and it is ready in the morning.
